Things I’ve Seen
Friday, June 15th, 2007So, towards the end of the first real day and I’m writing again from the Palace before going on the Bird Walk. I just wanted to post some interesting things I’ve seen since the big kick off here. And speaking of the kickoff…
I guess someone took it literally. I saw this shoe sitting in the middle of the carpet on my way out and back home. Our very own Cinderella story! Shortly before that, on my way in, I saw this:
Probably only funny to native English speakers, but I got a kick out of it. For those who might not get the joke, although manipulating literally means handling, it’s more often used to describe a person “handling” other people, tricking or coercing them into doing things, usually with an implication that the person being manipulated ends up thinking it was something they wanted to do in the first place. I have a good friend who actually titled her thesis for a degree in production management “Theater Manupulation.” I’m glad to hear there won’t be any here though.
Moving asynchronously on to today… During the rainstorm that came directly from a benevolent deity to cool us all off today, some folks proved once and for all that even acts of God cannot stop a puppeteer at work.
And last but not least, a touch of mystery.
A bit of shameless promotion. See you all at the parade!
